Good Samaritan takes in a very grateful and very pregnant cat

Oreo was found pregnant and covered in infected sores. So, you could imagine how grateful she was to be rescued, giving her kittens a far better life than they would have had.

A Good Samaritan found Oreo wandering through the streets of Ontario, Canada with her very pregnant belly swinging.

By the looks of her, Oreo had been abandoned and neglected on the streets for a while. Oreo was taken home by Good Samaritan.

A place to nest

They helped Oreo grow healthy and strong. They also gave her a place to nest where she could have her babies.

Oreo ended up giving birth to a litter of five healthy kittens.

That Good Samaritan then reached out to Salty Animal Rescue. They would be able to make sure that everyone in the family of six would find a happy forever home.

“They will never need to live on the street again and will never add to the overpopulation of stray and feral cats in our community,” Karly and Katelyn Saltarski, cofounders of Salty Animal Rescue, told Love Meow.

Oreo couldn’t have been a prouder mom. She was also extremely grateful to be indoors and not have to expose her newborns to the elements.

“Mama Oreo is the most loving girl. She was always making sure her babies were cared for. We are so happy that her finders stepped in (just in time),” the rescue said.

The kittens were progressing well under Oreo’s care. They opened their eyes, were starting to talk, and were kept very clean.

Mom duties

When Oreo was able to step away from her mom duties, she would seek out affection from her foster family. She loved to be pet and cuddled. She also was very friendly with humans and animals alike.

“She was obsessed with Foster Dad Chris and was constantly purring and bunting. Oreo did an amazing job raising her babies and continued being the sweetest girl. She made best friends with our resident dog, Nood, and happily shared her babies with her. The kittens were showing their personalities more each day,” the rescue wrote.

The kittens were named Griswold, Clara, Tinsel, Juniper, and Noel. They were growing rapidly and were able to explore without mom. They were soon put up for adoption.

“Oreo and her five babies are all officially in their forever homes and we could not be happier for them. They all lucked out with the best adopters,” the rescue said. “They get to call their new families and warm cozy houses, home, instead of the freezing streets.”
