A groom had a surprise on the day of his wedding. A stray cat joined the wedding guests during the religious ceremony held in Italy.
Alessandra and her fiance Frederico gathered their loved ones to celebrate their union under the blessing of the Church. Unfortunately, one dear to their hearts was sadly missing: Federico’s deceased father.
The late patriarch of the groom’s family liked spending time in the company of cats. Therefore, the fact that a stray cat entered the church where the wedding was held and remained during the whole mass was perceived as a strong sign.
On August 19, 2022, Alessandra and Federico exchanged their vows in the church of Gibilmanna, located on the island of Sicily, not far from Cefalù.
As the custom requires, the groom wore a bespoke suit and the bride a gorgeous white lace dress accessorized with a long veil. The happy couple and the assembly were busy listening to the priest’s sermon when an extra guest entered the premise.
A stray tabby cat strolled into the edifice, making its way over to the marrying couple. This feline proceeded to lay down on the bride’s train, much to everyone’s amazement.
Even more surprising was that he remained calm there till the end of the ceremony. Of course, the feline’s presence provided entertainment for all the guests, but the photographer and the groom were most affected by it.
Not an innocuous entrance
Considering Federico’s father’s affinity for cats, the groom and his relatives saw more than a casual event in this kitty’s appearance.
The wedding photographer, Cetty Messina, captured the beautiful moment with her lenses. She shared the images and the entire event on various social media platforms.
In addition, Cetty Messina let readers know that Federico’s late father had a soft spot for felines. So, she and the other guests understood the cat’s arrival and decision to settle at the foot of the bride and groom as more than a coincidence.
What happened to the animal after the wedding is not discussed further. One can only hope that he got the royal treatment and many cuddles from loving hands.
Besides, the critter might already have an owner residing in proximity to the church. If one rarely forgets a wedding, this tabby made the day even more special for all attendees.
